Fleas – not just for dogs anymore

July 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

After a tour of junkers one day, we came home and noticed that my feet were covered in little red dots.  I could only hope that it was flea bites.  Why would that be good?  It’s definitely better than bed bugs!  Having gone through many houses that day, we weren’t sure which house had inhabitants.  Fast forward to giving some family members the grand tour of our newest rehab… only to find fleas on our feet.  UGH!  We have lots of fleas.

A quick call to our bug guy Chuck (who’s a great guy by the way) and we were out to buy flea bombs.  We are hoping to just take “the edge off” with the bombs so that we can get in there to take out the carpet.  After that we may try the bombs again.  If the fleas are still multiplying like bunnies we will call “Chuck the bug guy” in.

Word to the wise – turn off any gas pilot lights before using a bug bomb.  And if you want to keep the bugs off your feet and legs, put your leg into a large trash bag and tape it (or tie it) at the thigh.  Thanks for the tips Chuck!

My brother found a guy on Craigslist who is going out of business.  He owns a bath and kitchen showroom in Deer Park.  I went out to the store to find a small vanity that may work in one bathroom.  When my brother called to ask if I wanted to come peruse the contents of his showroom, I wondered if it was a good use of my time.  As it turns out, the one vanity will be nice if I can get it for the right price.  However, the owner is a plumber and I happen to be in need of a new plumber.  So, even though I did not walk away with anything great for the house, I may have met a new plumber.   Not too bad after all.
